    Date: 17 July 2008

PriceRunner.co.uk, the impartial price comparison service, has today announced the launch of two new services on the site: The Insider, an innovative gadget and technology magazine which went live in late April, and also a portal for live video product reviews which went live in May.The Insider is an online magazine providing users with a variety of new content including impartial editorial news, reviews and advice on a whole range of products. Content on the Insider is updated daily with top tips, choice cuts from the PriceRunner top 50 and cutting-edge insight on the latest gadgets and technology.

PriceRunner.co.uk has developed The Insider through a partnership with Republic Publishing, a company that provides bespoke editorial content solutions. James Beechinor-Collins, Managing Director, Republic Publishing, comments, “We are delighted to provide content for The Insider magazine. With 18 years combined experience of writing across various titles, including popular gadget site T3.co.uk and the Gadget show we are in very good stead to be working with PriceRunner.co.uk to provide them with unique content.”

Mattias Berg, Managing Director, PriceRunner.co.uk, comments, “The content of The Insider is designed to inspire and engage our users, and to give our users more reasons to return to the site time and time again. We want to give our audience a wealth of information when comparing products on our site, so that they can make well informed product choices.”

The second development is the launch of the video reviews, through a new interactive portal which allows users to upload videos showing home-filmed product reviews starring themselves or their friends testing out products that they own. This has been developed in a partnership with Picsearch (premium provider of multimedia search and web-TV services).

The purpose of this new portal is to allow interactivity between users though an innovative online medium, offering users the chance to have real 3D insight to products and the features that they offer.

Mattias Berg, Managing Director, PriceRunner.co.uk-, continues, “From speaking to our users in research earlier this year, we know that product reviews are a vital part of the product selection process. 20% believe this to be the most important factor with advice from a friend being 6%. These data suggest that when it comes to online shopping, consumers are almost four times more likely to rely on online reviews from strangers. As an addition to our online forum, our new video platform will allow our audience to step into the spotlight and to interact with other users though these videos, and to advise each other on must-have products in a fun and engaging way.”

The process of uploading videos is simple; users can film the videos on their phone or using a digital camera or camcorder, and upload the videos in any format.
